Buildings

The Helidon State School campus consists of 4 teaching blocks. The main teaching block is a permanent structure, which includes 2 classrooms, computer lab, library, staff room, office and a services room. During 1990 we had a new modular building, consisting of 2 classrooms, erected. In 1992 we welcomed a new 2 classroom building of the latest design. The prep building is a single teaching space. Interactive whiteboards and multimedia projectors are installed in all classrooms.

Our library

The library is a converted classroom located downstairs in the main teaching block. It has recently been extended to over twice its original size. For a school our size, the library is extremely well stocked with books and resources. The library is fully automated, enabling easy access to all resources. All children have regular lessons on the use of the library and research skills. Students are encouraged to actively borrow and are requested to have a library bag to protect the books that they take home. These are available from the school office for $9.00 each. The borrowing period is one week with books being able to be changed more regularly. If books are lost or damaged by students, it is expected that parents pay for replacement. In addition to class-timetabled use, the library is also open some lunchtimes and before school.
